HOW ELMIRON® MEDICATION CAUSES MACULOPATHY

Elmiron®, or PPS, is toxic to the retinal tissue in the back of the human eye called the macula. Extended use of this drug can affect the tissue in the eye leading to many different types of macular degeneration such as pigmentary maculopathy, pattern dystrophy and vision loss among others.

Symptoms experienced by patients who have suffered eye damage as a result of taking Bladder Medication include:

  • Difficulty seeing or reading
  • Difficulty adapting to dim or changing lighting
  • Blurred vision (often in the center of the field of vision)
  • Dark spots in center of vision
  • Straight lines appearing curved or squiggly
  • Muted or less vivid colors

If you or a loved one took ELMIRON® for 2 years or more and have been diagnosed with maculopathy or other eye conditions, you may be eligible for compensation.

STUDIES CONNECT ELMIRON® TO EYE DAMAGE

Recent studies have found that taking a common bladder medication, manufactured by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, can cause serious eye disease to the retinal tissue in the eye causing maculopathy. The findings indicate that potentially about 25%, nearly a quarter of the patients who took this drug, could experience vision loss or impairment. This staggering statistic is bringing to light the dangerous side effects that Bladder Medication can have on macular degeneration. The study opened the door for lawsuits from patients suffering from this drug who are now seeking compensation.

ELMIRON® LAWSUIT FAQS

HOW DO I KNOW IF I QUALIFY FOR THE ELMIRON® LITIGATION?

You may qualify for the case if (1) you used Elmiron® for two or more years, and (2) you’ve been diagnosed with eye damage such as vision loss, maculopathy, macular degeneration, or pigmentary maculopathy. Contact us today for a free consultation to see if you qualify.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE ELMIRON® LITIGATION?

Contact us today so we can confirm that you qualify. Our team will provide a free, confidential consultation over the phone. If you qualify, we will provide you with a standard representation agreement and intake questionnaire. These documents will allow us to begin the process of representing you in the litigation to get you the compensation you deserve.

WHAT IF I USED ELMIRON® BUT HAVE DEVELOPED AN EYE CONDITION THAT IS NOT ON THE LIST?

Studies are still ongoing to determine the various types of eye damage that may be caused by PPS or Elimiron®. Current research suggests that certain types of maculopathy are most directly correlated, but ongoing research is still discovering the extent of the damage that can be caused by Elmiron’s toxicity to tissues in the eye. Please contact us for more information and a confidential case evaluation.

IS THERE A GENERIC VERSION OF ELMIRON® TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT?

No other form of PS has been approved by the FDA besides the brand name Elmiron®. If you have taken a generic or prescription bladder medication, your eye is likely not connected to the medicine and you will not qualify for a compensation claim.

WHAT IF IT WAS A LOVED ONE, NOT MYSELF, THAT WAS AFFECTED BY ELMIRON®?

Anyone diagnosed with macular eye disease or conditions after taking Elmiron® for more than 2 years may be eligible for compensation and should seek advice from legal experts. If a family member or loved one qualifies, please call us to discuss the options available to have them included in the litigation.
